Over the past year a lot of work has gone into the conservation of the Town Cross which stood in front of the Cathedral for the last 100 years.
At present a new wing is being constructed in Down County Museum to house the ancient cross which had been badly weathered.
At Easter a replica cross carved with great care by stonemasons S McConnell & Sons using Mourne granite, just as the original had been, was erected in front of the Cathedral.
