Downpatrick Presbyterian Women’s group will launch the display of their candle specially created as part of the 80 candles for 80 Years project to mark 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz.
With creative work based on the experiences of Edith and Gert Jacobowitz, who found refuge in Northern Ireland from Nazi persecution, the candle will be lit to start the display in Down Cathedral.
Readings from Edith’s diary, a short talk, music and poetry readings will focus on how lives were impacted by the Holocaust.
